01. About the Project

I

Our client is an Android application that keeps track of the organization’s sales engineers, service engineers, and service executives. The application keeps track of the activities carried out during a field visit.

When a sales/service engineer logs onto the application, they update the status of the assigned task at the client’s location. A location-based application captures and reports the user’s location to the administrator.

Photographs of the client’s location are captured by the application and uploaded to the system, which is reported to the administrator or reporting authority. Management officials can use the application to monitor the activities of service/sales executives.

02. Client – The Background

Our client manufactures and sells a wide range of industrially developed Sorting Plants. They manufacture colour sorting machines, sorting equipment, rice sorters, and grain sorting machines. All of the above-mentioned machineries are sold by the company across the country.

The sales and marketing department of the organization handles numerous activities that include identifying the type of machinery suitable for the client, conducting surveys at the client’s location, installing the machinery, and servicing the machines. Sales/service executives travelling to client sites caused the organization a lot of problems. With all these factors in mind, DigiWebHelp helped client develop an Android application that keeps track of the various activities the sales/service executives carry out.

As a result of the application, the company has streamlined its sales and service processes and established a good discipline among its executives.

03.Challenges and Solutions

We were instructed by the client to use GPS to determine the location of the user. However, this was draining the device’s battery. As a result, this issue was resolved by using the device’s cell tower location. Another issue was with the image capture feature. It was difficult to upload large images. We fixed this by resizing the image before uploading. Determining the user’s exact location was extremely challenging.
